Rehome a Cat
If you are a cat owner who can no longer look after your cat, or if you have taken in a stray or abandoned cat but cannot keep him/her, we may be able to help you safely rehome the cat.
Depending on your circumstances and our availability, we may be able to take the cat into temporary foster care until we find a suitable new home for the cat. However, as we are not a shelter and fully rely on our wonderful volunteer fosterers, we do not always have enough spaces to satisfy the currently overwhelming demand.
If we do not have enough foster homes available and the cat’s welfare can be assured, we would still post him/her on our website and have our adoption team look for and vet potential adopters in the same way as they do the cats in our care, except you continue to care for the cat until we can directly rehome him/her, which may take several weeks or months.
Please consider that we are a small charity with limited resources, run 100% by volunteers with jobs, families, and other responsibilities, when engaging with us. We are all trying our very best to help you and your cat, but we cannot always respond to individual enquiries right away or provide you with immediate solutions. Thank you for your understanding.
Register a Cat for Rehoming
If you have a cat who requires rehoming, please register the details of this cat below, ensuring the following:
▸ Include your full address, including postcode, as this saves time when reviewing your application.
▸ Provide as many details about the cat as possible. The more we know about him/her, the better we can match the cat to a potential adopter.
▸ Include the vet history and microchip number for any cat you are submitting for rehoming.
▸ Upload well-lit and in-focus high-resolution pictures of the cat to catch the eyes of potential adopters (including face and full body; bonded cats in one picture).
This registration is not an automatic upload to our website and does not guarantee a foster placement.
A member of our volunteer team will contact you to discuss the details you submit before processing your request further. We aim to do so within a week of submission, so please do respond to our calls/texts/emails as quickly as possible and check your spam folder so you don’t miss our emails.
Unfortunately, we are unable to consider temporary fostering requests at this time. Depending on your circumstances, we recommend you look into Cats Protection's Lifeline for those fleeing domestic abuse, Mayhew’s Pet Refuge, providing shelter and care for the pets of people in crisis, and The Cinnamon Trust’s Short Term Fostering for pets whose owners face a spell in hospital.
There is no charge for our rehoming service; however, Feline Friends London would appreciate a suggested donation of £50 to help support the work we do. Thank you for keeping your cat safe and not abandoning him/her!
